A crucial member of the Pellino & Mowris, SC team and a respected leader in the Wisconsin State Bar, Gerald Mowris does trial work in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, professional malpractice and family law. He earns great satisfaction helping people in need of sound advice and expert representation. Mr. Mowris' style is to help clients cope with their situation by exploring with them various legal options to discover the best course of action. After attending Michigan State University and the University of Wisconsin Madison, Mr. Mowris received his J.D. from the UW Law School in 1973. After six years in the trenches as an assistant Dane County district attorney, he entered private practice, with Pellino, Rosen, Mowris & Kirkhuff. Mr. Mowris has also served for 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, Retiring as a Major in the Army Judge Advocates General (JAG) Division. Deeply committed to his clients and his profession, Mr. Mowris is well respected in the legal community. He was elected State Bar President in 2001, and has served as president of both the Dane County Bar Association and the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was voted one of the best criminal attorneys in Madison by the Madison Magazine poll for many years. Gerry has also been selected within the top 5% of the state's lawyers by being designated as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer in Milwaukee Magazine. He lectures to high school students, classes at the University of Wisconsin Law School and fellow attorneys about the criminal justice system, family court, and ethics. When he gets the chance, Gerry enjoys skiing at Indian Head Mountain where he has served for 30 years as a member of the National Ski Patrol. He also enjoys golf, hiking, fishing in Canada and traveling with his wife and two grown children.
